Runway is a device that maximises bandwidth use for voice and data using ViBE software. It delivers a higher density of voice calls, better security, quality of service and resilience.

Runway can be deployed as a VoIP gateway; or it can provide standalone survivability support for TELVIVA ® subscribers (Connection Telecom's hosted IP PBX service).

What the Runway.X1 gateway component includes:

• ViBE-enabled VoIP broadband enhancement
• Four ISDN BRI ports, four FXS ports and four FXO Ports.

• Data: VPN, VLAN, NAT, quality of service, firewall, encryption
• Fixed wireless access: GSM (3G) / CDMA (EV-DO) interfaces.

Runway.X1 uses Voice over IP Broadband Enhancement (ViBE) technology which does the following:

• Quality of service is implemented in a completely different way.
• Voice is treated as a data stream that has specific requirements for packet priority and spacing.
• The required bandwidth budget is reduced to the compression format used.
• Sites with ViBE links can be joined together to form private networks, improving security.
• Backup links can activated without losing calls in progress.
• ViBE enables the use of much more of the link's capacity.
